From the Illustrators Note:
I found it a challenge to depict the events of Gullivers voyages, as he is often either too big or too small for his surroundings. Imagining these in pictures was my main focus in the demanding task of illustrating the writings of Jonathan Swift. Swift was writing three hundred years ago, so for hisGullivers Travelsto meet the needs of a modern reader, parts of his book have been adapted, and then illustrated to help the adventures spring to life. This is what we have fondly attempted to do in this new edition of the enduring story.
