Children’s Literature
What is it like to spread sunshine in the lives of other people? Lucas lives on Sunshine Street, where he does kind deeds and spreads happiness. At a joke shop he runs, he surprises his friends with pleasant words. One day, Mia stops by. She is worried about her upcoming soccer match, so Lucas crafts a joke about a dinosaur scoring a goal to cheer her up. Lily worries that her robot will never come to life, so Lucas tells a joke about a robot who loves to read. Nothing makes Lucas happier than spreading cheer throughout his neighborhood. But when his friend Henry is too ill to come for their long-anticipated sleepover, Lucas feels depressed. Oliver tries to cheer him up with a funny drawing, but it doesn’t work. Mia tries skateboarding jokes, but they don’t work. Near the end of this narrative, the children find out why Lucas is sad, and they manage to cheer him up. In this charming story, children will discover the wonders of friendship and the joy of sharing happiness. Children of all ages will enjoy reading this wonderful addition to the “Chicken Soup” canon of literature.
