Jerry Pallotta, author

Jerry Pallotta began writing books to entertain his own children. Now, he is the author of several books for young readers, including The Desert Alphabet Book, a Reading Rainbow selection; The Butterfly Counting Book; The Icky Bug Alphabet Book; and many more. Jerry travels extensively around the country talking with children about writing books. He lives in Massachusetts with his family. His advice to children: “Read a zillion books!”

David Biedrzycki, illustrator

David Biedrzycki has illustrated many books for young readers, including The Beetle Alphabet Book and The Boat Alphabet Book. He has also written and illustrated several books, including the Ace Lacewing series and the Breaking News series. David grew up in Pennsylvania and graduated from Kutztown State University. He lives in Massachusetts with his family.

Biedrzycki’s beautiful naturalistic illustrations show each creature in its native habitat. A brief, two or three sentence description for each entry mentions its unique characteristics and explains how it got its name. A serviceable addition that should stimulate children to explore further.
